Do you take card payments?

Yes we do – cash or card is fine.

Can we bring our dog?

Dogs are welcome in the outside area to the front of the mill where there’s lots of cafe seating, but they’re not allowed in any of the animal areas.

What about guide dogs and assistance dogs?

Guide dogs and assistance dogs are very welcome. If you’re visiting the animals, we ask that they remain on their working harness at all times and stay calm and quiet by their owner’s side.

Are the grounds suitable for wheelchairs and mobility scooters?

We have full accessibility information at

Is there an admission fee to see the animals?

We have goats and rabbits in an area behind the cafe. You’re very welcome to visit. There’s no charge, but if you’re able to make a small voluntary donation which goes towards their care and upkeep, we’re grateful for all contributions. If you’d like to help, you can donate in the cafe or by using one of the quick QR codes in the grounds.

Is it a working watermill?

Claythorpe was last a working mill in the late 1970s. You can still see the unusual turbine and the millstones, just as they were left when the last miller died in 1977, however the mill itself is no longer operational.

Do you have any vegan or gluten-free options?
